The Velveteen Rabbit is the heartwarming tale of a toy rabbit who longs to be real. He lives on the toy box in the playroom watching all the other toys being played with and wishing that one day he will be chosen by the child. Then, one night, the little stuffed rabbit is retrieved and soon becomes the Child's favourite toy, cherished above all others.
As time goes on, the Velveteen Rabbit becomes worn and shabby from being loved, but he doesn't mind. He is happy to be loved so much. So much, that eventually the magic of the Child's love transforms him into a real-life rabbit...
Using puppetry and original songs, our stage adaptation of ‘The Velveteen Rabbit’, brings to life Margery Williams' beautiful tale of a toy rabbit's wish to become 'real' and how one child makes this happen through love and imagination.
We debuted this production at the HF ArtsFest in June 2014 and have since toured it around markets, libraries and theatres including a sell-out show at the Bush Theatre.
"When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but really loves you, then you become Real." - Margery Williams
