In India, little Mary Lennox had servants catering to her every whim and was used to getting her own way - no matter what. So when her parents pass away and she is sent to meet the strict and stringent Mrs Medlock who takes her to live with her old uncle in the Yorkshire countryside, her world is turned upside down.
Stuck in the middle of nowhere she feels as though she will be lonely forever. That is until a friendly robin helps her to find the door to a Secret Garden where she finds a place more magical than she could have ever imagined! Along with free-spirited Dickon, hopeful Colin, cheerful Martha and even grouchy Ben, she learns the value of friendship, happiness and true Magic.
In this interactive production aimed at children aged 6-11, we used puppetry and song to bring Frances Hodgson Burnett's magical and classic tale to life.
We debuted this production during our second spell with the Hammersmith & Fulham ArtsFest in June 2015 at Fulham Library.
We are reviving the production as an interactive storytelling show in celebration of Frances Hodgson Burnett's 170th birthday.
“And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles.” - Frances Hodgson Burnett
